Two arrests made in stolen vehicle
Two subjects were arrested Jan. 14 regarding the taking of a company vehicle, according to Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson. An early morning call to Marshall County dispatch regarding a company car that was stolen from a sales representative’s drive while warming up ended in the arrest of two Byhalia area residents, he said.
The 2013 Toyota Tacoma with an automatic tracking system and owned by AJAX Miller Light Distributing in Memphis, Tenn., was left in the representative’s drive to warm up while the driver was inside the house, according to the sheriff.
A suspect drove the Tacoma to Byhalia not knowing the tracking system was on the Toyota, he said.
Deputy Anthony Jones, who received the information from 911 dispatch, put out a BOLO (Be On the Look OUT) for the vehicle, spotted the Toyota and undertook a brief pursuit.
The subject allegedly drove the vehicle to the shoulder of the road and jumped out and fled with a female occupant who was riding in the Tacoma with him.
“A very short time later the female was taken into custody and a short time following taking her into custody, the male subject was seen walking along side a county road on the outskirts of Byhalia near the area of Edwards Road and Ridge Road,” Dickerson said.
The subject, Angelo Wheeler, 30, of the 4500 block of Deer Creek Road, Byhalia, was arrested and charged with auto theft-related charges and with felony fleeing Tuesday around 8 a.m to 9 a.m., Dickerson said.
“Based on the facts of the investigation thus far it is believed that the female passenger may have not known the vehicle was stolen,” the sheriff said. “She will be charged accordingly, if it is later determined she had knowledge.”
For the present time, Sarah Elizabeth Owen Reese, 28, of the 13000 block of Holly Springs Road, Byhalia, remained in custody Tuesday awaiting the results of the ongoing investigation, Dickerson said.
Assisting the sheriff in this investigation was C.J. Peters, other members of the investigative team and uniformed officers.
