Eleanor Gregory Davis Fordyce passed away peacefully at the age of 86 on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at 1:58 a.m. at The Baptist Reynolds Hospice House in Collierville after taking a tragic fall on December 17, 2024. Friends are invited to a visitation with the family on Thursday, January 9, 2025, from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., with the service to follow at 12:30 p.m., all at The Flame of Byhalia Church. The interment will be held at Byhalia Cemetery. Rev. MJ Pope, Rev. Stephen Bittick, and Chaplain Chuck Bursi will officiate.

Eleanor was born on July 8, 1938, to Curtis and Huey Gregory of Louisville, Miss. She graduated from Louisville High School in 1958. Eleanor married A.E. (Sonny) Davis Jr. from Houston, Miss. in 1958. The couple would make their home in Memphis for over 12 years. In 1972, the family moved to Byhalia, Miss., where Eleanor had been a resident for over 50 years. At the age of 42, Eleanor was widowed when her husband of over 22 years, Sonny Davis, passed away suddenly. Eleanor remarried Gilmer Lee Fordyce and spent the next 27 years together before his passing in 2009.

Eleanor was an active member of Byhalia United Methodist Church, now known as The Flame of Byhalia Church. She was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, the United Methodist Women's Group, the Extra Special People's Group, the Byhalia Lion's Club Women's Servers, and the Fellow Workers Sunday School Class.

Eleanor was also active in the Byhalia Community. She was a member of the Byhalia Garden Club, serving as president of the club for several years.

She was also involved in the Byhalia Arts Council Summer Camp Program, the Red Hatters Group, the Emory Church Women's Bible Study, and she enjoyed taking yoga in the community.

Eleanor had been a Wesley Meadows Assisted Living resident for the past two years. She enjoyed weekly outings with the caregivers, being part of the Wesley Meadows Dream Cheer Team and Choir, and helping with Meals on Wheels. Visitors often found Eleanor walking the halls of Wesley Meadows, trying to get into something. Mrs. Eleanor's family is very thankful for the Wesley Meadows caregivers and their love for their mom and grandmother.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis Gregory and Huey Gregory; as well as her siblings, including Louise Gregory, Joyce Eubanks, Johnny Gregory, Faye Harville, and Larry Gregory.

Her three children survive Eleanor, Cheryl Davis Mokry of Fayetteville, Ga. (Frank), Greg Davis of Ashland, Miss. (Heather), and Linda Davis McKinney of Ingram's Mill, Miss. (Paul); her six grandchildren, Ashley Chandler (Phillip), Michael Davis (Taylor), Franscesa Mokry (Steven), Boyce McKinney, Davis Mokry, and Sonni McKinney; and, four greatgrandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Flame of Byhalia Church (P.O. Box 6, Byhalia, Miss. 38611) or the Methodist Senior Services designate for the Sunday Fund Wesley Meadows (P.O. Box 1567, Tupelo, Miss. 38802).
