Laura Ann Byers Turnage

Laura Ann Byers Turnage, 88, of Waterford, died December 21, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. She was a member of Hamilton Chapel CME Church where she served as a church user, stewardess, Sunday school teacher, and missionary. She was a member of Heroines of Jericho and Order of Eastern Star. She was retired from Sunbeam.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Dec. 28 at Hamilton Chapel CME Church with burial in the church cemetery. Rev. Robert Odum officiated. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her daughters, Marian E. Taylor of Waterford, Allison Richmond of West Point, Phyllis Hubbard of Austell, Ga., Myra Turnage of Stone Mountain, Ga.; son, Rocky Lane Turnage of Waterford; sister, Eunice Adams of Indianapolis, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Sidney Turnage; parents, Florence and J.B. Byers; son, Willie Edward Turnage; sisters, Mary Lay, Josephine Temple, Ethel Wooten, Annie Young,Doris Byers; brothers, James Byers, Earnest Madison Byers, Thomas Charles Byers, John Eldridge Byers, and Melvin Lee Byers.
