The Marshall Academy Patriots football team travelled to Rossville, Tennessee, last Friday night to meet up with the Wolves of Rossville Academy. What a way to open the season, as the Patriots absolutely put the stomp on Rossville with a final score of 47-8, the Wolves touchdown coming late in the game. This week, the Knights of Greenville Christian travel to Heath Barnett field to take on the Patriots. Kickoff is at 7 p.m. Dana Davis will have a booth set up at the game selling her infamous team hats. She has more than just Marshall available, if you are in the market for some new head gear. Also if you are like me and have waited since last football season, the concession stand will once again have their famed booster burgers, among other tasty treats. Come on down and support the football team and watch the cheerleaders, who also killed it last week at Rossville. Great things are happening down the hill at Marshall Academy.
Hank Wheeler of Newnan, Ga., was the guest of Kay and Laura Wheeler last week. He was here to tour some retirement communities as well as go out for my birthday lunch. Saturday, Grady joined us from Oxford and we went to Caitlyn, Trace and Delilah’s in Olive Branch. We wound up at Silo Square in Southaven. If you have never been up to that area, it is worth the trip. They have wonderful restaurants and darling little boutiques. We settled on Rotollo’s for lunch. It has only been open three weeks and let me tell you, the food and the service was impeccable. Everyone in our party got something different from chicken wings to pasta to pizza and even a cheeseburger.
Cousin’s Maine Lobster truck from Atlanta had made its way to Olive Branch. They had set up at Mississippi Ale House in the old part of town. Talk about precious. That area of Olive Branch is so charming and welcoming. It is something to strive for being a small town. Hopefully one day.
Brooks Taylor Davis celebrates his third birthday August 17 with a dinasour themed party. Family and friends enjoyed pizza, cake and ice cream. He is the son of Ethan and Jessica Davis, and the grandson of Bobby and Barbara Taylor.
