Ethel Ree Lockhart

Ethel Ree Lockhart, 96, of Oxford, died August 3, 2024, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North Mississippi in Oxford. She was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the mother board and sang in the choir. She was a member of Heroines of Jericho and was retired from the University of Mississippi.

Visitation will be held at Second Baptist Church on August 16 from 3-6 p.m. and on August 17 from 9-9:55 a.m. with services at 10 a.m. Rev. Andrew Robinson will officiate. Burial will be in the Oxford Memorial Cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She leaves her daughter, Martha Jean Perry of Oxford; son, Birk Reece of Milwaukee, Wisc.; sister Marlene Tibbs of Indianapolis, Ind.; brother, Lonnie Griffin Jr. of Chicago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and several great and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Lee Lockhart; daughter, Corrine Houston; siblings, Alvin Griffin and Fred Griffin.
