Arrest made in Salem Avenue shooting

A shooting at a residence near the intersection of Salem Avenue and East Boundary is under investigation by Marshall County Violent Crimes Task Force, according to sheriff Kenny Dickerson.

He said one suspect was arrested and booked at about 3 p.m. Sunday, July 21. The victim is in critical condition at the Regional One Medical Center in Memphis, Tenn.

Dickerson said neither the victim or the suspect lived at the address where the shooting took place in a yard.

Casey Duncan, 35, of a Minor Street address in Holly Springs, was charged with attempted murder following the shooting reported around 7:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, the sheriff said. Duncan was arrested at a residence in the Holly Springs area around 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

He said the motivation for the shooting is not clear, but a verbal altercation preceded the shooting.

The victim is reported to be paralyzed from the waist down, Dickerson said.

A 22 caliber revolver is believed to have been the weapon used, but no weapon has been recovered, the sheriff said.

Evidence recovered at the crime scene and photographic evidence was collected by members of the Marshall County Violent Crimes Task Force to be used in court proceedings, the sheriff said.

Holly Springs Police Chief Darryl Bowens took part in the investigation.
