Vickery named as Lady Hawks basketball coach
The Holly Springs Lady Hawks will be under the leadership of a new head coach on the basketball court next season.
Morgan Vickery, already on staff at the high school, is stepping into the position after the retirement of Maxine Tucker.
A native of Bruce, Vickery is entering her fourth year working at Holly Springs High School as an English teacher. She has led the Lady Hawks’ powerlifting team to a district championship and several individual state medals. She has also assisted with both basketball and football.
“I am thankful to be selected to lead the girls basketball team,” Vickery said. “We have been in the gym about a month now, and the girls are working hard to develop new habits and learn new basketball skills.”
She was a five-time district champion and five-time all-region player on the court for the Bruce Lady Trojans. She was a Northeast Mississippi Basketball Coaches Association (NEMBCA) all-star. She also played basketball two years at Rust College. She has degrees from Northwest Community College and the University of Mississippi.
“I am excited to see the girls buy in – working on learning and improving every day,” Vickery said. “I can’t wait to see what they will accomplish together.”
