Ruthie Mae Cato-Rooks
Ruthie Mae Cato-Rooks, 90, of Holly Springs, died September 10, 2023, at her home. She was a member of Powell Chapel MB Church where she served on the mother's ministry and usher board. She was a homemaker.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Sept. 16 at Powell Chapel MB Church. Rev. Eddie Walker officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
She leaves her daughters, Loraise Greer, Mary Evans, Shirley Isom, Brenda Byers, Cynthia Tucker, all of Holly Springs, Ollie Tallie of Lamar, Gloria Rooks-Heywood of Memphis, Tenn.; sons, James L. Rooks, Charles Rooks, both of Holly Springs, Michael Rooks of Memphis; sisters, Lillie Wilson, Loretta Gray, Denise Sharp, all of Cleveland, Ohio; Maxine Lewis of Memphis; brothers, Ameal Washington of Chicago, Ill., Bezellea Sharp of Cincinnati, Ohio, Leonard Sharp of Darmstadt, Germany; 36 grandchildren, 104 great-grandchildren, and 46 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thelbert "Seventeen" Rooks Sr.; son, Thelbert "Big Doc" Rooks Jr.; siblings, Ethelene Powell, Magaret Lee, Lucille Stevens, Allene Reynolds, Johnny Jenkins, Willie Sharp, Ervin Reynolds, Lester Sharp Jr., and Billy Sharp.
