Long executive sessions, no action

The Holly Springs Mayor and Board of Aldermen continue to hold hour and a half long executive sessions.

Shortly after opening the April 18 meeting the board went into a long executive session to discuss prospective litigation, code enforcement, the utility department, annexation, a general city and Holly Springs Utility Department hiring ordinance and TVPPA.

The board after being in open session hardly a half hour went into executive session at 6:26 p.m.

Coming out of executive session at 8:05 p.m., Ward 4 alderman Patricia Merriweather left the board room. Ward 3 alderman Colter Teel was absent.

Mayor Sharon Gipson announced no action was taken on any of the issues taken up in executive session.

Forthwith, Gipson made a motion to hire or transfer 16 job applicants.

With three aldermen left in the board room - aldermen Andre Jones, Bernita Fountain and Dexter Shipp - Jones made a motion to approve 16 applicants on the agenda, Shipp seconded and the motion passed by a vote of 3-0, with Teel and Merriweather absent the meeting.

Those offered jobs include or transfers included:

• Shunna Brown, customer service representative (CSR) for Holly Springs Utility Department (HSUD).

• Dunmetria Russell, CSR, HSUD

• Miranda Isabel, CSR, HSUD

• Jordan Tucker, CSR, HSUD

• Sean Eason, transfer from HSUD to Buildings and Grounds

• Corey Jeffries, transfer from HSUD water division to concrete division

• William R. Payne, HSUD water division

• Michael Howell, transfer from Buildings and Grounds to Street Department

• Javontae Moore, transfer from Buildings and Grounds to Street Department

• Travon D. Johnson, general laborer at Street Department at $16 an hour because of possession of a commercial driver’s license. Usual entry level is $15.50 an hour

• Keebler Martin, general laborer, Street Department

• Hershel A. Clayton, general laborer, HSUD water division

• Cassandra Echols, general laborer, HSUD water division

• Isaiah Glover, general laborer, HSUD water division

• Judah A. Martin Jr., general laborer, HSUD water division

• Joshua Turner, general laborer, HSUD water division

• Kentona Shipp, general laborer, Buildings and Grounds

• Kevin Ingram, general laborer, Buildings and Grounds
