Networking opportunities in Byhalia

Byhalia Area Chamber Main Street began a new event on Wednesday morning Jan. 18, at 2452 Church Street. This event was a networking opportunity for local businesses with coffee and donuts provided by Thistledome Coffee.

On the first and third Tuesday of every month, the public is invited to attend the Byhalia Town Board of Alderman meeting as they conduct a “Business Meeting.” The meeting begins at 5:30 p.m. in the Court Room at Town Hall. The agenda is posted on the bulletin board by the front door on the Friday before the meeting.

The Byhalia Police Department has increased the number of traffic stops around town with positive results arresting citizens with outstanding warrants from local and other agencies. They have been investigating breakins. I have had to call for their investigation of a situation in town this week. While an open case is under investigation, I can say they have taken the matter seriously and are keeping me up-to-date on their findings.

There is still no access to my Facebook account, and there has not been a response from Facebook. I have started my research and found the email address and name of the person responsible. I do not know this person personally and am still unsure what his purpose is.

With all the negative comments about the Byhalia Schools on Facebook, I have to share a portion of my experience at Byhalia Elementary School this week. No, I don’t have any children there, but I accompanied a parent to a meeting as an advocate for her child. I was greeted promptly and courteously. The parts of the school that I went to were clean and organized. All employees I interacted with inside and outside the meeting were friendly and professional. The discussed issue was handled professionally and in the child’s best interest.

Remember to call Murray Foods to complain about the discontinuation of Jackson Vanilla Wafers. Murray Foods said they will listen to the voices of the public. Call 866- 866-3085 to record your concerns.

Highway 309 is the responsibility of the State of Mississippi. It is not the responsibility of the Town of Byhalia to maintain. Call

866-521-6368 to voice your concern about the need for repairs to this road.

I haven’t had a chance to visit the new “Neighborhood Grill.” However, there has been a facelift outside with a fresh coat of paint and general cleanup.

It’s time to sign your young ones up for tee ball, softball, and baseball. Byhalia has already begun registration, Holly Springs started Monday this week, and Potts Camp will start the first week of February. Don’t let your children miss this opportunity.
