Lions take home the win at Holiday Hoops Classic
Holly Springs High School and H.W. Byers High School basketball teams participated in Lewisburg High School Holiday Hoops classic over Christmas break. The two-day tournament consisted of eight local teams.
To kick things off the Lady Hawks squared off against New Albany High School. The Lady Hawks fought hard but lost by a final of 71-42.
Lady Hawk Chamilya Watson finished with 12 points.
Byers Lady Lions took on the home team Lewisburg Lady Patriots. The Lady Patriots wasted no time keeping their foot on the accelerator defeating Byers by a final of 70-25. The losses sent both teams to face each other in the consolation game.
Later that afternoon the Holly Spring Hawks took on Lafayette Commodores.
The Hawks defeated the Commodores by a final score 57-44.
Jaylen Sims, of Holly Springs, led all scorers with 24 points.
Thursday afternoon H.W. Byers Lions went up against the Lewisburg Patriots in an attempt to meet Holly Springs on day two for the championship game.
The Lions pulled off the win by 11 points. The final score was 66-55.
Michael James, from Byers, led all scorers with 26 points.
After winning Thursday games the Hawks and Lions met for the third time this season for the Holiday Hoops championship game.
Byers had won the last two games this season and took the win for the championship with a final score 60-52.
