Memphis man dies in crash
An 8:54 a.m. Crash Friday Dec. 9 took the life of a Memphis, Tenn., resident, according to Sgt. Marvin Baird with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
The crash took place on Interstate 22 in Marshall County.
Baird said the driver of a 2008 Ford 250 traveling west on I-22 left the roadway and collided with a parked tractor trailer.
The driver, Reinier L. Rodriguez, 35, of Memphis, received moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital, Baird said.
A passenger in the Ford pickup, Adrian R. Lamorut, 32, of Memphis, received fatal injuries from the crash.
Marshall County coroner James Richard Anderson pronounced Lamorut dead at the scene at 9:11 a.m. After medics attempted to revive the man without success.
The accident took place at mile marker 18 about one mile west of Victoria and about 3 miles east of Byhalia, Anderson said.
Responding to the scene were the Byhalia and Victoria fire departments, he said.
The accident remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
