Birthday supper honors Rowan Thompson

Rowan Thompson of Dallas, Texas, was the week long guest of Kay and Laura Wheeler. While here, he was treated to an early birthday supper with his entire family. He traveled to Oxford Friday to spend the weekend with old friends for the Ole Miss football game against Alabama. Although the Rebels came up six points short, a big time was had by all.

Sunday was a great day at Heath Barnett field at Marshall Academy. The PTO hosted the yearly Fall Festival, which was put off one weekend due to rain. The field was covered in bouncy houses for the young ones and incredible vendors circled the track and the Walk of the Patriots. There was a chili cook off competition. Amanda Smith’s chili won first place and Sarah Miller Taylor’s a close second. All semester long, students, and maybe some parents, have contributed to jars for both Administration and Coaches alike to have to kiss a goat. The lip locking commenced Sunday during the festival. Needless to say the competition was not very tight, as Headmaster Jason Taylor pulled ahead early on and continued to gain steam. The amazing sport he is, he bent down and puckered up to kiss the goat, which was supplied by Coach Susan Rodgers. It is a breath of fresh air to have a phenomenal staff who go along with most anything, even if it includes smooching with critters.
