MA rolls over Oak Hill Academy 40-0

The Patriots have been red hot winning the last seven of eight games. Friday, they celebrated the seniors as they brought the regular season to a close to go up against Oak Hill Academy Raiders.

The Patriots had a night to remember, shutting out Oak Hill 40-0.

“It was senior night and we had another big crowd,” Marshall Academy coach Ben Durham said. “Going in we felt like we had a good game plan. We wanted to throw the ball and attack their young defensive backs. That all changed on about the third offensive play. When our starting quarterback, Brody Whitaker, went out.”

With the Patriots starting quarterback out, Durham put in Walker Sanders.

“Walker Sanders had to come in and play quarterback. He really has only got a few pratices as a quarterback and most of that was in a wildcat situation,”

Durham said. “But offensively we had to really change the game plan.” Durham said the defense helped the team out.

“We got a fumble recovery inside of their ten-yard line. And Hayes Henry had an interception return for a touchdown. Plus, they shut them out. Everyone stepped up.

“The Patriots beating the third best team in district 400 without our starting quarterback was a great way to finish the regular season.

We have made the playoffs Academy next Friday night,” and travel to Winston Durham said.
