Hard work pays off for Lady Pats

The Marshall Academy Lady Patriots softball team killed it all season long, scrapping from the very start with a young bunch of players. Seniors last year left a large hole in the team, but they prepared their teammates to step up to the plate and fill their cleats well.

The girls, led by Coach Carlton Gibson, handily won their District, advancing them to the North-Half tournament. They battled through that and once again, came out on top as North Half Champions.

This week, the girls traveled to Magee. They played their hearts out beating Winona 9-2 and shut Amite out with a final of 10-0.

They begin the quest for the state title Wednesday with the best two out of three games played against Tri-County. First pitch at Tri-County is at 4 p.m. Wednesday. The Lady Patriots will host the second game of the series at Marshall Academy this Saturday at 5 p.m.

Good luck to this young team! They have come together to prove age is just a number ~ determination, grit and hard work pay off!
