School bus accident, children safe
A collision between a Marshall County School District school bus Thursday resulted in no injuries to the students, according to Sgt. Marvin Baird with the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
The accident took place Sept. 22 at 7:18 a.m. while students were on their way to school.
The accident occurred on Highway 309, when the bus, driven by 59-yearold Calvin James, collided with a 1996 Toyota Avalon traveling north driven by Jakiah M. Newsom, 17, of Holly Springs.
Newsom received moderate injuries and was transported to a local hospital, Baird said, while all 28 students on board were safe.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Fatality A single-vehicle accident Saturday, Sept. 24 at 4 a.m. on Highway 309 resulted in the death of a woman from Olive Branch, Baird said.
A 2018 Nissan Sentra driven by Kimberly A. Still, 49, of Olive Branch, was traveling south on Highway 309 when the vehicle left the roadway, Baird said.
Still received fatal injuries from the crash.
This crash remains under investigation by the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
