FOOTBALL PREVIEW
Holly Springs Hawks football team has a familiar face in charge once again.
Coach Clifford Brown is back on the sidelines for his second stint with the Hawks. He coached the Hawks in 2006 to bring them to the school’s only playoff victory.
Coach Brown said he is looking to bring a winning culture to the city of Holly Springs.
The Hawks are coming off a disappointing 2021 season only winning one game. Brown’s motto to the team is “get your lick back.”
“The team and I want revenge on the upcoming season,” said Brown. “But to do so, we’ll have to make sacrifices both on and off the field.”
Jaren King will be assisting Coach Brown.
Team players to watch for the Hawks this year are: Brandon Lester, senior, running back; Deonte Jefferson, junior, quarterback; Keonte Jefferson, junior, defensive back and wide receiver; Cameron Isom, senior, wide receiver.
The Hawks kick off their season August 26 with Northside High School coming to their turf.
The Hawks will have six home games this year but will have two back-to-back road games to end the season against rivals Byhalia and North Panola.
