Orenzy “Mookie” Echols Jr.

Orenzy “Mookie” Echols Jr., 54, of Lamar, died May 2, 2022, at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. He was a former member of Finley Grove MB Church and a member of Greenwood Masonic Lodge #58. He worked in maintenance at Rockwool Inc. in Byhalia.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on May 7 at Eddie L. Smith Multi Purpose Building. Rev. J.W. Smith Jr. officiated. Burial was in Kimbrough Chapel MB Church Cemetry. J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

He leaves his wife, Fannie J. Bryson Echols; daughter, Shamika Bryson-McAuley of Nashville, Tenn.; sons Christopher Echols of Horn Lake, Orenzy Echols Jr. of Nesbit; mother, Lena Echols Falkner of Lamar; sisters, Sharon Marion, Constance Bean, Betty Page, all of Lamar, Shirley Reese of Memphis; broher, Johnathan Bell of Chulahoma; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Bell; and brother, David Bell.
