Store robbed; suspect sought

The armed robbery of Circle K on Highway 7 North Sunday at 7:20 a.m. Is under investigation by the Holly Springs Police Department, according to chief Grant Glover.

He said the suspect parked his vehicle behind the car wash at 1246 Highway 7 North and entered the convenience store, showing a gun and directing a clerk to the safe. Video footage of the October 24 robbery is being studied in an attempt to identify a suspect, Glover said.

Two clerks were on duty at the time of the incident.

Glover asks that anyone who has any information on this incident, please call the Holly Springs Police Department and leave a tip.

In another incident over the weekend, a 16-year-old was arrested at Sam Coopwood Park at 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 22, when he was found with a loaded handgun, Glover said. The juvenile was transported to the Alcorn County Detention Center and was due to be brought back Tuesday of this week to appear in juvenile court.

A juvenile who is a second suspect in a Saturday, Oct. 16, shooting in the parking lot of a convenience store was taken into custody Monday of this week. The shooting happened adjacent to the laundromat at 327 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. One person was injured but not critically.
