Pursuit leads to arrests
Two burglary suspects were arrested after a pursuit by several law enforcement agencies, according to Marshall County Sheriff Kenny Dickerson.
Two teams organized in an attempt to make arrests of two suspects in either the Holly Springs or Higdon Road area, he said.
The suspects were under investigation for burglary, grand larceny and the stealing of catalytic converters off vehicles, he said.
During the operation, one law enforcement team made contact with the two suspects in the Higdon Road area March 24, where they were sitting in a vehicle near a residence.
As investigators approached, the suspects left the premises at a high rate of speed. Law enforcement pursued the suspects into Holly Springs where the vehicle was stopped near the intersection of West Boundary Street and West Woodward Avenue, Dickerson said.
The suspects, Christopher Parmenter, 25, of the Byhalia address area, and Madeline Hulsey, 21, of the Holly Springs address area, were taken into custody, he said.
They were booked on the original charges of burglary, grand larceny and stealing, and a felony fleeing charge was added, according to the sheriff.
The two remained in the Marshall County jail Tuesday of this week.
In a separate incident, Brandon Lee Taylor, 24, of Pontotoc Avenue in Potts Camp, was arrested March 28 on one count of burglary and one count of grand larceny, Dickerson said.
Taylor is charged with taking of a four-wheeler from a nearby residence. He is being held in Marshall County jail under $50,000 bond.
Maj. Kelly McMillen cautions residents to report suspicious activity in their neighborhoods to the sheriff’s department and make records to document ownership of equipment such as lawn mowers, four-wheelers, and trailers.
“Write down the serial numbers on all equipment and take photographs,” he said. “So, if your property is stolen and later found by law enforcement, it can be verified it belongs to you.
“And, if you see something, say something,” McMillen said.
