LETTER TO THE EDITOR:
Dear Editor:
Concerning HSUD, I would like to thank them for myself and I imagine the entire population that they serve, a hearty thanks and many handshakes on keeping our thriving community with those most basic essentials we require. I, myself, had an issue and they responded with their rapidity of Mercury himself sending a message to the gods of Olympus. I was amazed and proud of our people. So, next time you see a person with HSUD on their chest, give a wave and say thanks!
Secondly, due to the horrible 10 or so days we all had to endure, I ask upon our illustrious aldermen and mayor to follow in the footsteps of their brothers in Washington, D.C. Marshall County does not, unfortunately, rank as a leader in income. We have the poor, the sick, the elderly, the unemployed, the disabled: all of which live on substandard wages or fixed incomes. Often, these people must decide which bill to pay...groceries...utilities? I implore that our folks we put in office will follow their brethren in D.C. I implore that they give a $100-200 break on every utility bill this month. We, as a community, have suffered greatly. We didn't design homes for these contingencies. Many, if not most of us, had to leave our sinks dripping, wasting water against the possibility of a line burst. If you have ever had one, you know the hardships, especially in older houses as many of us have.
I am quite sure that our honored aldermen will see the wisdom in this heartfelt, generous ruling, especially since some of them are going to face re-election possibilities soon. It would certainly be a feather in their hat!
Sincerely,
Bruce Reed Holly Springs
