Qualifying ends for elections

All incumbents but one are seeking re-election in the three Marshall County municipalities Only one candidate has no opposition.

Holly Springs

Incumbent mayor Kelvin Buck is being challenged by Sharon D. Gipson and J. Kizer Jones.

Tim Liddy, incumbent alderman atlarge, has two opponents — Dexter Shipp and Marvin M. Bruce.

Incumbent Ward 1 alderman Bernita Fountain is unopposed.

In the Ward 2 alderman race, incumbent Lennell Lucas faces opposition from Goston “Redd” Glover and Andre Jones.

Incumbent Ward 3 alderman Mark Miller is not seeking re-election. Candidates for the position are Terry W. Lawrence, Erica N. Milan, Jim Moore, Karen M. Pigues, Rick Raimey, Colter Teel and William C. Thompson.

Christy Owens, incumbent alderman in Ward 4, has three opponents — Eddie Frank LeSure, Demarcus Jones and Patricia LeSueur Merriweather.

All candidates, except two, will run as Democrats. J. Kizer Jones is running as an Independent for the mayor’s job, and Andre Jones is running as an Independent for alderman, Ward 2.

The Democratic primary election is Tuesday, April 6, and the primary runoff Tuesday, April 27.

All races, except for mayor and alderman Ward 2, will be decided in April.

The general election is Tuesday, June 8.

Byhalia

Incumbent mayor Phil Malone is opposed by William T. “Bill” Dawson.

Incumbent aldermen seeking re-election are Delainer Richmond, William Rose, Michael E. “Mike” Hamblin, Frederick “Rick” DeBardeleben and Joe Tunstall.

Other candidates for aldermen are Kelly Crain, Denise Anglin, Toni MayesMoore and Vera “Lynn” JiJaga.

All aldermen candidates in Byhalia run at-large. The top five vote-getters will be elected.

There will be no primaries in Byhalia. The general election is Tuesday, June 8.

Potts Camp

Incumbent mayor Herbert Luther has three opponents — David Pannell, Sidney Person III and Angela Williams. Incumbent aldermen running for re-election are Annie Allen, Deb McCullough, Dollean Porter, Sabrina Porter and Johnny Westmoreland.

Other candidates for aldermen in Potts Camp are Michael Brown, Lee Evans, Denise Cook Garrison, Nicholas Henderson, Kevin Houston, Casey Mayer, Christopher Porter and Dean Tindall.

All alderman candidates run at-large. The top five vote-getters will be elected.

There will be no primaries in Potts Camp. The general election is Tuesday, June 8.
