Irene George Woods

Irene George Woods, 68, of Memphis, Tenn., formerly of Holly Springs, died Jan. 29, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis. She was a member of Victory Church in Memphis where she sang in the choir and was a church usher. She was a retired cafeteria worker for Shelby County Schools.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on Feb. 5 from 12-4 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Feb. 7 at Cottrell Memorial Garden in Holly Springs. Pastor Mary Peterson will officiate.

She leaves her husband, Glenn Woods; son, Cornelius Thomas of Memphis; two stepsons, Kenneth Woods, Kevin Woods, both of Memphis; four sisters, Mary George, Carol Higgins, Linda Powell, all of Memphis, Adrinne George of Houston, Texas; three brothers, Henry A. Jones, Oscar L. George, Richard George, all of Memphis; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceeded in death by a son, Steven L. Waller.
