Mrs. Clara Ellen (nee' Perry) Webb
Mrs. Clara Ellen (nee' Perry) Webb was born July 13, 1931, in Holly Springs, Mississippi. She was the last child born to the union of the late Mr. David Henry Perry Sr. and Mrs. Ellen (nee' Wortham) Perry. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 66 years, Mr. Robert (Peewee) Webb Sr.; brothers, Jim Tom (J.T.), Clinton, Russell Quit and David Perry Jr.; sisters, Clister Mae [born Crystal] Thomas and Catherine Love; granddaughters, Audrey Arleen Webb and Loreatha Dea Greenlee-Leclere; great grandchildren. Maurice Lowery Jr. and Cynthia Lowery; sister in-law, Annie Saulsberry and many other loved ones and friends.
The family later relocated to Byhalia, Mississippi where Clara confessed a hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Isaac Chapel CME Church.
Clara received her formal education in Byhalia, MS and with the Rosenwald schools.
In 1947 Clara Perry was united in Holy Matrimony with Robert Webb Sr., and to this union four children were born. Clara and her family moved to East Saint Louis, Illinois in 1950. In 1980 she joined the membership of Mount Tabor Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor Rev. James Macon and the late Pastor Rev. James A Ivy, for many years until her health began to fail.
Clara was gainfully employed as a packer for Obear-Nester Glass company for many years and later retired from the Belleville Shoe Company.
Clara enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. She enjoyed yard work and playing the game of Bingo. Clara was a devoted Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great-Great Grandmother, Aunt and so much more.
On Sunday, November 29, 2020, at 7:18 p.m., God gave Clara Ellen Webb the ultimate gift of eternal life while surrounded by her loving family.
Clara leaves to cherish her memory her loyal and devoted children, Robert E. Webb II (Bridget) of Cahokia, Ill., Tommie R. Webb (Audrey) of Swansea, Ill., Clara L. Greenlee (Larry) of Alorton, Ill. and Mary L. Webb of Centreville, Ill.; 21 grandchildren, 55 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren; sister in-law, Louella Perry; special niece, Christine Eastern and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
