Lora Mae Batts Hurey

Lora Mae Batts Hurey, 75, of Ashland, formerly of Chicago, Ill., died Nov. 7, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union County in New Albany. The widow of Albert Louis Hurey, she was a member of Samuel Chapel MB Church in Ashland, a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., and the Continental Society Inc. She was a former member of New Deliverance Church in Chicago, and was organizer and founder of church clothes closet. She was a former social worker in Cook County, Ill.

Visitation will be held at J.F. Brittenum and Son Funeral Home on Nov. 21 from 2:30-5 p.m. Graveside services will be held at 12 noon on Nov. 15 at Samuel Chapel MB Church Cemetery. Rev. Rickey Ball will officiate.

She leaves a son, Albert Hurey Jr. of Chicago; stepdaughter, Beatrice Hurey of Chicago; three sisters, Dorothy Robinson, Jane Batts, Daisy Stinson, all of Lamar; a brother, Joe Batts of Lamar; and three grandchildren.
