J.R. Pryor Jr.

J.R. Pryor Jr., 76, of Aurora, Ill., formerly of Holly Springs, died March 26, 2020, at his home. He was a member of New Hope MB Church in Laws Hill and later joined the Love of God MB Church in Aurora. He served as a deacon, superintendent and Sunday school teacher. He retired from Lyon Metal Products in Montgomery, Ill., after 40 years. He was a Union representative and was on the negotiation committee.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on April 4 at James Funeral Home Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Emmitt Compton officiated. Burial was in Riverside Cemetery in Montgomery.

He leaves his wife of 58 years, Sarah Pryor; one daughter, Denise (Jason) Smith of Minooka, Ill.; three sons, Kerry Jeronald (Nicole) Pryor of Sugar Grove, Ill., J.R. Pryor III (Kimm) of Montgomery, Anthony Maurice Pryor of North Aurora, Ill.; his mother, Cleopatria Pryor of Holly Springs; four sisters, Bobbie (Spencer) Campbell of Batavia, Ill., Betty (Euria) Guy of Fort Wayne, Ind., Freedonia (Isaac) Jones, Mary (Glenn) Shaw, both of Holly Springs; five brothers, R.C. (Ella) Pryor and S.T. (Atrice) Pryor, both of Aurora, Ivory Lee Pryor of Holly Springs, A.D (Patricia) Pryor of Michigan City, Willie Boyd Pryor of Fort Wayne; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.R. Pryor Sr.
