Marvin "Heck" Walker

July 14, 1956 ­ October 3, 2019 Marvin Walker was born on July 14, 1956, to Eddie Lucas Sr. and Viola Jeffries Thurston. Marvin attended St. Mary's School in Holly Springs, MS. He worked for over 30 years as a construction worker at Flint and Jamison & Jamison construction companies and later retired from Northside Wrecker Service. Marvin believed and confessed Jesus Christ as his Savior and transitioned peacefully to his heavenly home on October 3, 2019.

Marvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, who loved keeping his family and friends laughing at all times. He enjoyed NASCAR, drag racing and had a love for painting.

Marvin was loved by many and will be missed dearly by his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Viola Jeffries Thurston; father, Eddie Lucas Sr.; and two sisters, Dorothy Lucas King and Eddie Mae Lucas.

He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Verlean Dowdy; three sons, Christopher George Walker of Louisville, Ky., Raphel "Rocky" Campbell Sr. of Holly Springs, and Marvin Javon Dowdy of Sugar Grove, Ill.; two stepsons, Greg Dowdy and Willie Mason Jr. of Holly Springs; three daughters, Joyce Campbell Moore and Yvette Shanta Dowdy, both of Holly Springs, and Chiquina Chiquita Dowdy of Sugar Grove, Ill.; one stepdaughter, Stephanie (Edward) Phillips of Sugar Grove, Ill.; four brothers, Linnox Walker, Eddie Lucas Jr., Henry Thurston, all of Holly Springs, and Tatum (Melinda) Thurston of Lamar; seven sisters, Elaine Melvin of Aurora, Ill., Barbara Thomas, Elena Ann (Dee) Lyons, Sharon Lucas Burns and Ella Thurston, all of Holly Springs, Debra Lucas (Reggie) Eliott of Olive Branch, and Marchette (Robert) Brumsey of Southaven.

He also leaves 13 grandsons, Jaumaurice Phillips, Christopher George Jr., Traveous George, Lemarcus Tyrone Buffington Jr., Quarvonte Glover, Zylon Dowdy, Raphel Campbell Jr., Jadarius Pewett, Jeremias Moore, Prince Dowdy, Nolan Dowdy, Malachi Jones and Royal Dowdy; six granddaughters, BreShunna Dortch, Kianna Frost, Zylum Dowdy, Dranah Townsend George, Drianna Townsend George, BreAnna Hampton; four great-granddaughters, Meaghan Phillips, Morghan Phillips, Madyson Phillips and Addisyn Gary; two aunts, Lula Kate (Starling) Nunnally of Memphis, Tenn., and Nancy Pearl Nelson of Kileen, Texas; one uncle, Samuel Jeffries Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.
