Bank celebration

The Bank of Holly Springs celebrated its 150th anniversary Friday at the South Branch location with food, music and gifts in a day-long celebration. Bank president Steve Gresham, in brief remarks prior to the ceremonial cutting of the ribbon, expressed his gratitude to the bank’s loyal employees, its loyal customers and to the community in general. “We’ve had a good run for a long time,” he said. “We survived the Yellow Fever epidemic of 1878 and the Great Depression of the 1930s. It’s all of us working together for the good of the community.” Hundreds of friends and customers were served chicken at noon and fish at the workday’s end. In the main bank downtown, hors d’oeuvres were served to customers as they came through to conduct business with the tellers.
