Sallie will be missed

Congratulations to the Marshall Academy Junior High boys and coach David Hoggatt. They battled through the 1-AA District Tournament in Winona last week to bring home the championship trophy. In a hardfought battle with district rival, Carroll Academy, the boys came out on top by one, 48-47 final.

Marshall Academy hosts the District 1-AA District Tournament for varsity this week and the Class AA North Half next week. Good luck to the varsity Patriots and Lady Patriots in their quest for the gold. If you want to watch some good basketball, head down to the Frank Swords Gymnasium this week and for sure next!

We lost a sweet member of our community last week, Miss Sallie Hubbard. I have no doubt most everyone knew her, or at least had seen her. She walked all the time, mostly in the Center Street and Chulahoma Avenue area. She carried a stick and always walked with a purpose. She would wave a hand when spoken to, but did not miss a beat in her step. A tragic loss for sure. Healing and prayers for her family and I hope they know we all mourn her loss.
