Portion of Old 7 S. will be dedicated

Supervisors have ap­proved a request to name a por­tion of Old Highway 7 South after one of their former employees, the late Willie James Martin. Betty Martin requested the honor.

In other business, attorney Kent Smith reported the county expects to close on the purchase of two acres of property at the Chulahoma Community Center for additional parking space. The Educational Building that was built to replace the old cannery building, which was destroyed in the December 23, 2015, tornado, needs some additional parking space, said District 4 supervisor George Zinn III.

Charles Terry, District 1 supervisor, asked that $1,000 of his board allotment be given to the Davis Temple Food Pantry, to be used to stock the pantry for Thanksgiving for the poor.
