HSUD sees drop in bad debt ratio
The Holly Springs Utility Department’s bad debt ratio has dropped by 20 percent this year, according to general manager Bill Stone.
Aldermen looked over the bad debt list before approving a write-off of $182,424.
Stone said the percent of uncollected revenue is down from 2017. Just under 500 customers still owed the utility money. The write-off is just a measure to close out the current year’s books. Customers who owe the utility will not have their bad debt removed from the books, ever, unless they pay their bill, he said.
Alderman Tim Liddy was surprised to see some customers on the list owed the utility less than $1.
