MA opens district with pair of victories

The Marshall Academy Lady Patriots stormed into District 1-AA play last week by outscoring their two opponents 22-0.

MA improved to 17-0 with those victories before dropping three games Saturday in the Tri-County Tournament.

Pitcher Carlie Vannucci dominated the two district foes – giving up just one hit versus Carroll Academy and none against Oak Hill Academy.

Both games were at home, with the one against Oak Hill being the Lady Patriots’ first-ever game under lights.

MA had nine hits in a 10-0 rout of Carroll August 13.

Getting two hits each were Hallie Turner, C. Vannucci, Abby Bell and Tyler Vannucci. Baylee Floyd added one hit.
