Construction hastens on county’s workforce center

The Marshall County Workforce Training Center is coming up quickly now that good weather has allowed the slab to be poured. Next, the steel is going up, according to county engineer Larry Britt.

It is located in northwest Marshall County, at the intersection of Cayce and Wingo roads.

About $677,000 has been drawn down on a $3.9 million contract with $2.4 million more to spend, he said.

Some money was paid out to the contractor to purchase steel in advance before the price rises, Britt reminded the board of supervisors. The cost to purchase the building was $108,000. The cost to erect the building is $175,000.
