Baby shower honors Kelsey Clayton

Perry and Amy Mask visited his brother, Gerry Mask, and sister-in-law, Pamela, in Kansas City, Mo., before flying out to the Dominican Republic together last week. The four spent their vacation in Punta Cana at the Bavario Resort where they enjoyed the daytime activities at the beautiful pools and beach. They also took in all the shows, nightlife and wonderful sunsets. They took a catamaran ride out to Sonoma Island and enjoyed lunch and a day at the Blue Lagoon Beach.

Coach Jeremy Ervin jumped in feet first with the Marshall Academy Patriots’ varsity basketball team. He took some of them down to Jackson last week to mix it up at the MRA camp. Lots of basketball was packed into the long three days they spent there. The boys played hard and won some tough games. This team is bound for great things!

Mary Grace Carlton of Birmingham, Ala., spent last week at Camp Mississippi, hosted by Vicki and Walter Webb.

Kelsey Clayton was honored with a baby shower Sunday afternoon. The event was held at the Apothecary on the square. Attendees were greeted with a mimosa bar, coffee punch or a variety of juices. The center of the room was filled with delicate tidbits, scrumptious open-faced tomato sandwiches, mint meltaways and precious petit fours.

Hostesses included Lisa Childers, Tammy Cupp, Kathy Elgin, Kim Hurdle, Brenda McAlexander, Susie Murphy, Christy Owens, Bailey Poindexter, Alice Ray and Julie Strickland.

Kelsey received so many beautiful things to welcome her twin boys, which are due in August. The most special gifts were four teddy bears. Two of each were made using shirts from both her paternal and maternal granddaddies. They may not be here in form, but a piece of them will be with those babies forever.

Please keep Kelsey in your prayers; she had a small health issue last week. There is nothing better than a momma’s love and home when you are not quite feeling yourself. Here’s to a healthy delivery of gorgeous little boys!

Sunday, July 8, Kerry Greene will be gracing the pulpit of the First Presbyterian Church. He is a retired Army major and was raised in Holly Springs. The service begins at 11 a.m., if anyone is interested in going to hear him preach.
