Janice Wagg, president of the Marshall County Sports Association (a Dizzy Dean league) reported to the board of supervisors on the relationship between it and the local teams and how funding is distributed.
Wagg, who has been with the association 14 years, said the mission of the baseball and softball leagues is to bring children and adults together to play ball and have fun. Some students have gone on to obtain sports scholarships in college, she said.
MCSA is an umbrella organization that supports all teams in the county, she said. About 400 kids a year are in the program.
