Lady Lions fall in round one of district

The H.W. Byers Lady Lions saw a season of progress come to an end on Monday of last week.

The Lady Lions fell 63-37 to host Falkner in the opening round of the Region 2-1A Tournament.

“My girls played their hearts out but we went into the game short-handed, missing our post player (Kyra Morrison),” coach Kevin Jones said. “One of our senior leaders and best three-point shooters (Chelsea Rayford) went down in the second quarter with a knee injury.

“We ended up with five girls in the second half and eventually had to call the game in the fourth quarter because all of the girls fouled out but two.
