Cornelia Hurdle Pepper

Cornelia Hurdle Pepper, 87, of Vaughan, formerly of Slayden, died Jan. 11, 2018, at her home. The widow of Thad Pepper, she was a graduate of the “W”  and was a retired home economics teacher at Benton High School in Benton.

Services were held at 2:30 p.m. on Jan. 14 at Black Jack Baptist Church, where she was a member for over 60 years. Burial in the church cemetery. Dr. David White and Rev. Ken Anderson officiated. Stricklin-King Funeral Home of  Yazoo City was in charge of arrangements.

She leaves two daughters, Linda Kay Pepper Richardson (Randy) of Vaughan, Pamela Jo Pepper of Canton; and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by six brothers, Percy Gray Hurdle, Harold Cornell Hurdle, I.J. Hurdle, Jr., Maurice Lanier Hurdle, Leslie Byron Hurdle and Chester Hurdle, and a sister,  Francis Mozelle Hurdle Belluscio.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made either to the building fund or the mission fund of her church, Black Jack Baptist Church, 1914 Black Jack Rd., Vaughan, MS 39179   or to her daughter Pam’s Christian group home for intellectual and developmental disabilities: Son Valley, P.O. Box 406, Canton, MS 39046.
