Byers defense shines in win over Rebels

It was all-district week for H.W. Byers basketball teams.

They tipped off the three-game stretch with a pair of losses at home to West Union Monday, Jan. 22.

Coach Kevin Jones’ Lady Lions fell 73-62 in the Region 2-1A clash despite some “great team ball, especially in scoring.”

Jakorien Hubbard was the top gun with 24 points, followed by Myesha Buffington with 15 and Chelsea Rayford with 12.

“We had a bad defensive second quarter, which gave them a big lead that was hard to come back from,” Jones said.
