William “Pee-Wee” Scruggs
William “Pee-Wee” Scruggs, 74, of Ashland, died Dec. 30, 2017, at Baptist Hospital in Oxford. He was a member of Palestine MB Church. He was a retired industrial hand and a school bus driver in Ashland. After retiring he worked in security with his brothers.
Services were held at 1 p.m. on Jan. 6 in the Ashland High School auditorium. Burial was in Palestine Church Cemetery. Rev. James Williams officiated. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
He leaves his wife, Annie Ruth Scruggs; three daughters, Josephine (Jack) of Memphis, Tenn., Romana (Gregory) of Ashland, Monica (Angelo) of Memphis; sons, William (Jasmine), Alfonzo (Krystal), James, Deangelo, all of Memphis, two sisters, Barbara (Leon), Delois (Levi) of Lamar; five brothers, Clarence, Luster, Billy (Ruby), all of Memphis, Andrew (Earnestine) of Lamar, Charles (Shelquita) of Holly Springs; 35 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and three step-children, Angela Richardson, Dianne Harris, Lewis Taylor.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Joyce Odom and Annie Moore; three sisters, Willie Mae Williams, Lillie Mae Lesure, Wilma Evans; and two brothers, Jack Walter Scruggs, and J.W. Scruggs.
