HSUD rolls out call center

The number one complaint Holly Springs Utility Department has heard over the years is the inability for customers to report an electricity outage because phone lines are tied up due to low capacity, according to general manager Bill Stone.

He said that should not be a problem as of last Thursday at 5 p.m. when HSUD hooked up to the 24-hour call service (a dispatch service) with the Cooperative Response Center (CRC).

The company acts as a dispatch center uniquely for power distributors. CRC serves more than 300 utilities nationwide, Stone said, including Northcentral EPA, Tippah Electric, Bolivar Energy Agency, and Tallahatchie Valley EPA – all HSUD’s neighbors.
