W.R. “Bobby” Fant Jr.

W.R. “Bobby” Fant Jr., 78, of Holly Springs, died Dec. 2, 2017, at his home. A Presbyterian and a veteran, he was the Marshall County Tax Collector and Assessor from 1980-2003. He was the former owner of a John Deere dealership, Sports Corral and Corral Self-Storage.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Dec. 4 at Holly Springs Funeral Home Chapel. Burial was in Hill Crest Cemetery. Elder Jerry Wise officiated.

He leaves his wife, Martha Teel Fant; two sons, W.R. “Robin” Fant III (Dana) of Starkville, David Tucker Fant (Dianene) of Holly Springs; a daughter, Tara Fant Howard (Tim) of Cary, N.C.; two brothers, Jimmy Fant of Horn Lake, Joe Fant of Holly Springs; stepchildren, Amy Mayer Palmer (Blake), Randy Mayer, both of Holly Springs; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Sylvia Tucker Fant; and a brother, Billy Fant.

Pallbearers were Trevor Fant, Tucker Fant, Winston Fant, Dean Wilson, Billy Mack Kinard, Taylor Newell, Blake Palmer, and Randy Mayer. Honorary pallbearers were Donald Parker, Edwin Callicutt, Kenny Dickerson, Manny Burch, Wayburn Callicutt, and the First State Bank board of directors.
