Board advertises for supplies, accepting bids for 24 months
The Marshall County Board of Supervisors has advertised for bids for supplies to be accepted prior to a January 1, 2018, rule change requiring bids be selected by a state-approved contractor.
All counties will be required to advertise for bids through this new state-mandated system beginning the first of the new year.
County engineer Larry Britt said the new state-run bidding process will have a board that will hear appeals to go around the new bidding system on certain items. He said the State Aid Program is not under this new bidding rule.
Counties will have to pay the state-approved contractor an additional 3 percent on bids approved under the new rule.
