Christmas season in Holly Springs

Pam and Barry Burleson, along with their daughters Emma and Erin, and Melanie Cheesman, spent the Thanksgiving holidays in Ft. Walton Beach, Fla.

The first week in December kicks off the Christmas season for Holly Springs. This weekend will be a flurry of fun and exciting things to do! The first Holly and Ivy Gala will be held Friday night at Montrose. Proceeds will benefit the Marshall County Museum. Saturday, the Tracks of Generals will be held at the Depot from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The annual Christmas tour of homes is also this weekend with a plethora of beautiful homes on the tour. The ladies of Belles and Books host their luncheon at the Kate Freeman Clark Art Gallery. Retro Rooster will have a booth there with lots of fun goodies available to purchase. The most anticipated event happens Saturday night with the Christmas parade through the square. It begins at 5 p.m., so be sure to get up there early and grab a great spot. Santa Claus will make his yearly appearance - make sure you have been nice!

With the season of giving upon us, it is nice to reflect and give to those who may be less fortunate. Participating with small, little random acts of kindness could turn around someone’s bad day. The holidays are not always easy for some people. One never knows the struggles others have, so choose to be kind, offer a smile or a simple “hello” to strangers. Not only will it lift their spirits, it may lift yours as well!
