Seasonal illnesses increase

Dr. Cassandra Hawkins and nurse practitioner Emmily Hurdle provided a report on what’s going around in the health scene at a recent Rotary Club meeting.

Seasonal illnesses are on the increase since September, Hawkins said.

The health clinic in Holly Springs is seeing more cases of flu of the upper respiratory tract, she said.

It is time for flu and pneumonia shots.

Good advice for those coming down with recognizable flu symptoms is to get to the doctor and get ahead of the flu early, Hawkins said. Symptoms to look for are headache, muscle aches, fever, chills, coughing, and a runny nose.
