The Marshall County Board of Supervisors has approved a $5,000 fee to renew Code Red.
The service is no longer being paid for by the Northeast Mississippi Planning and Development District, according to Hugh Hollowell, emergency management coordinator.
This package does not allow for mass notifications, which was used only once or twice in the past, he said. The package chosen by the supervisors will provide weather warnings. Individuals must sign up for Code Red in order to get a call when there is severe weather in their area.
