Lions vs. Devils ends at 20-20
The season finale Thursday night for H.W. Byers and Ashland ended in a tie.
With the score knotted at 20 in the third quarter, the Lions recovered a Blue Devil fumble and returned it toward the end zone. Near the goal-line the Lions fumbled, and players from both teams were diving and reaching for the ball, said Chris Daniels, head coach at Byers.
He said a scuffle, “with some pushing and shoving,” resulted in officials ending the game, which was played at Byers.
Daniels said he was told by officials that some players left the sideline but “I only had 14 players dressed out (with 11 on the field at the time) and I didn’t see it.”
