Cardinals end year with loss to district champions

Potts Camp had to take on the Region 1-1A champion to end the regular season Friday, but coach Markeith Washington said his team “didn’t back down.”

The Cardinals and Okolona were tied at 6 after the first quarter before the host Chieftains pulled away for the 41-14 win.

“Hats off to my guys,” he said. “We actually played pretty well. We battled and played hard until the end.

“We ran the ball well. We just have to learn to capitalize when we get inside the 10.”
