Mrs. Linda Susan Johnson

Mrs. Linda Susan Johnson, 76, died Monday, October 16, 2017, at her residence in Byhalia, MS.

Born in Little Rock, AR, Mrs. Johnson lived in Byhalia, MS, and the surrounding area most of her adult life. She was a service clerk. Mrs. Johnson was an avid reader and sought out reading as a way to connect with various cultures.  She took to reading as a way to let her mind travel through the written word - ink on pages being her guide.

Mrs. Johnson also loved tending to her flower beds and spending time nurturing them from seeds into beautiful flowers. Gardening was her therapeutic pastime.

It was well known to everyone that she was an animal lover, who would rescue and care for any animal in need. Mrs. Johnson could never turn a blind eye to an animal she felt needed her help. Whether it was food and water, a warm place to sleep for the night, or simply love, Mrs. Johnson was going to make sure she did what she could to make that animal’s life better.

Survivors include three daughters, Mitzi (Scot) Keller of Lake Cormorant, MS, Donna (David) Fox of Clarksville, TN, and Pat Garwood of Chattanooga, TN; two grandsons, Christopher Meyer and Jimmy Garwood, both of Chattanooga; two granddaughters, Jennifer (James) Howell and Perri Fox, both of Slidell, LA; two great-grandsons, Thomas Howell and Cameron Fox, both of Slidell; three great-granddaughters, Flora Howell, Patience Fox, and Harmony Fox, all of Slidell; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband, Buddy Johnson; son, Perry Thompson; parents, Edgar and Rachel Bylander; and sister, Nancy Whitley.

Donations and memorials in honor of Mrs. Linda Susan Johnson may be made to the American Cancer Society (P.O. 8217, Jackson, MS 39284-8217) or the Tunica Humane Society (P.O. Box 236, Tunica, MS 38676).
