Lions fall at Smithville in District 1-1A action

H.W. Byers hung tough with heavily-favored Smithville for one quarter Friday night.
“They came out in the second quarter with that hurry-up, no-huddle offense and put up 20 points on us,” said Chris Daniels, head coach of the Lions.
The host Seminoles, ranked in the top five in the state in Class 1A, stretched a 7-0 lead to 27-0 at intermission and went on to down the Lions 34-0 in the district contest.
Smithville went to 5-1 overall and 3-0 in Region 1-1A. Byers fell to 2-4 and 0-3.
