The Catholic Diocese of Jackson bought the New Hope Village property in July and has placed Jeff Bell as director.
Bell is living in one of the cottages, one of 13 on the property. Not all are inhabitable, but he said the Catholics will work to get all the cottages in use.
The food pantry is now transferred entirely to the pantry at Catholic Community Outreach behind St. Joseph’s at 295 Francisco Drive in Holly Springs. The clothing closet is also going to be closed, and the spaces it and the food pantry occupied at the village will be put to use as shelters.
